Sandeep Pandey

Summary

Pursuing a Ph.D. at the University of California-Berkeley, Sandeep joined V.J.P. Srivastavoy and Deepak Gupta to form Asha (Hope), to support education for underprivileged children in India by tapping the resources of Indians abroad. The enterprising founders raised ten thousand dollars in one year, an auspicious beginning for an organization that now has over 50 chapters worldwide and has disbursed nearly three million dollars for programs in India. In a tradition exemplified by Gandhi himself, Sandeep Pandey returned home and established Asha Trust with twelve chapters around India which in his own words is for “shaping the socio-economic-political future of the country.” He currently is a visiting faculty at IIT Gandhinagar and a full time activist working at the grassroots level for social causes such as

  • Education
  • Caste Discrimination
  • Women’s empowerment
  • Anti corruption
